Urban Angel is an annual Bedroom Makeover Event that started in 2014 by Principal Design Consultant Jodi Mason of Urban Home Windsor in Honor & Memory of Mikaela Scurto (February 26, 1995- September 12, 2013).

The Urban Angel Event (a nonprofit organization) provides a complete bedroom makeover designed, styled and paid for by Urban Home Windsor and through contributions from the local community for a child with an illness or exceptionality in Windsor Essex County Ontario.

Tina-urban angel

We’re very excited to announce the Winner of the 2017 Urban Angel Bedroom Makeover!
Tina Rempel was nominated by 5 nurses from Windsor Regional Hospital and her nomination letters touched our hearts! Unfortunately, Tina has been fighting a rare form of cancer since the age of 13. She has had extensive surgery, years of chemo with all the horrible side effects & relapses.
Tina is very artistic and had visions of designing her own bedroom with a white shag rug and a beautiful vanity… her dreams are finally coming true and we can’t wait to begin the design process!
Check back soon for more updates! ūüėć

Blake is a most deserving pre-teen. He has broken his beds from jumping on them, damaged his ceiling from throwing balls repeatedly…¬† But he is a sweetheart when “Not” yanking your heart out or clawing you.¬† He is non-verbal, so communication is rough (hence the intermittent attacks for bringing frustrated)¬† He just deserves a comfy cozy space where he can relax in his “own” space that he most certainly needs at times.

Tiffany was very fortunate to battle and fight off ALL leukemia twice in her short lifetime, once at 2 years of age and again at 25 years of age with her first chemo treatment on her 25th birthday. She was also born with down syndrome and just celebrated her 30th birthday with over two-hundred of her family and friends on October 17th.

Cohen was born on July 10, 2010, in London Hospital and his parents were told he had deformation of the brain. Just after he was born he had two surgeries the first one was a tracheostomy (breathing tube) put in so he can breathe on his own and the other one was a g-tube (feeding tube) put in so he could eat.  Cohen needed someone to sit with him 24/7 and had limited time with his in-home nurse. Cohen and his parents are still full of life and love and stronger than ever as a family, and this gift would be the best thing to happen to them and they could certainly use a good surprise.

Every year a call is put out to the community in the Windsor Essex County Ontario region to submit a story about a child with an illness or exceptionality that deserves a bedroom makeover. All entries are then carefully considered by the Urban Home Windsor design team to choose one deserving child. The special child then receives a fresh bedroom makeover complimentary of Urban Home Windsor and the community sponsorships.

If you would like to become a sponsor, donate a product or a service towards our next urban angel project, we would love to hear from you!
